Brian Selznick on "Wonderstuck"
Up to Date is no stranger to success (if we do say so ourselves), but it's not everyday that your book is adapted into a film directed by Martin Scorsese. Complicate that equation, though, with the fact that the book is aimed at children and the movie is Scorsese's first family film, and your chances for success become infinitesimal.
Brian Selznick is experiencing exactly that type of success. The author and illustrator of the Caldecott Medal winner The Dinosaurs of Waterhouse Hawkins and his best seller The Invention of Hugo Cabret joins Steve Kraske today to talk about his wildly successful streak in children's literature, his newest book, Wonderstruck, and his involvement with the Joplin project, "Turning the Page."
