Kansas City History: School Closures and Lost Names

We've heard the controversy and we've seen the list. The Kansas City, Missouri, School District will close nearly 28 buildings in an effort to contain costs and improve education. The students will be reassigned to new places, but the buildings and the names they have carried, sometimes for generations, will fade away. Who were the people behind the names: Askew and Pinkerton, Knotts and Swinney? And how will they be commemorated now? Today, Walt and Kansas City History series co-host Monroe Dodd explore the history behind the names of the Kansas City Schools, especially those in their last few months of existence.
