Kansas City History Series: The Man Behind the Harvey Houses

Rail lines were once dotted with Harvey House restaurants at train stations from Kansas City to all points West. In another installment of our Kansas City history series, KCUR’s Maria Carter talks with the author of a new book detailing the life of Fred Harvey and his restaurant empire. Stephen Fried, author, Appetite for America: How Visionary Businessman Fred Harvey Built a Railroad Hospitality Empire That Civilized the Wild West
Monroe Dodd, local historian
