Harold Holzer on Lincoln President-Elect / Harry Truman's First 100 Days
Lincoln scholar Harold Holzer joins Steve Kraske to discuss his latest book Lincoln President-Elect: Abraham Lincoln and the Great Secession Winter 1860-1861 which examines the transition period faced by our sixteenth President, including the quality and timing of Lincoln's public statements during the four months from his election to his inauguration, as well as his private letters and the personal persuasion he employed in his entry into this nation's greatest crisis.
Also, Randy Sowell, an archivist with the Truman Presidential Library and Museum discusses President Harry Trumanís first 100 days in office. Truman had no transition time, assuming the office of the presidency upon FDRís death.
